This year’s event sees the return of the sensational Marika Aubrey as your Host! Currently gracing the stage as part of the stellar cast of ‘South Pacific’ and having dazzled an array of cabaret audiences across Australia and the United States, Marika will guide the animated crowd in song and action as well as judge (with a little bit of help from the Audience Clap-O-Meter!) the show’s famous audience costume parade.

For all Sing-A-Long-A- newbies, be prepared to pull out your Leisl-inspired Gazebo gown, press your best white dresses with blue satin sashes, whip up some Lederhosen made from curtain fabric,  or even brown paper (packages) tied up with string! There will be everything from gaggles of nuns to goats and goat herders, even the Alps themselves! Limited only by your imagination!

A tremendous atmosphere fills the theatre, one that is well worth while experiencing first-hand, as the crowd goes wild at those iconic moments – cheering when we see our beloved Julie Andrews for the first time, wolf-whistles for the Captain, hisses for the Baroness – a favourite……and big boos for the Nazis!

The Sound of Music is the most successful movie musical of all time and the number one family film. It features the most irresistible score in movie history. Released in 1965 by 20th Century Fox – written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and directed by Robert Wise the film was shot in the Austrian Alps of Salzburg; and is based on the true story of Austrian singing family “von Trapp”, who became famous and toured the States in the 1940s. In the year the film was made, 2 million additional tourists visited Salzburg, Austria.

The first Sing-A-Long- A Sound of Music was held in the UK in 1999 as a one-off event. Producers Ben Freedman and US partners Tom Lightburn and Bill Soady formed Singalonga Productions to roll out the event worldwide with new prints of the film subtitled with the song lyrics. Sing-A-Long- A Sound of Music continues to sell out every month in London and has toured to more than 120 Venues in the United Kingdom. The sing-a-long version swept America after a first screening in July 2000 and in 2012 it played in over 50 locations around the country including a 9th annual successive sell-out show at the Hollywood Bowl. As well as the UK and USA it has played in at least 12 other countries including Austria, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Many celebrity faces have been spotted under their wimples at Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music including Sir Elton John and partner David Furnish, Hugh Grant, Dan Aykroyd and Joan Collins.

It has sold over 1.5 million tickets to over 3000 performances worldwide with at least 50,000 dressing as nuns!
