KERNEL ANDREW’S TOP 20 MOVIES OF 2014
Welcome to our penultimate list for the 2014, the list of our art house expert, our Kernel with as much movie addiction and spare time on his hands as myself, Kernel Andrew. Andrew loves his art house and I originally got him on board because he loved Russian cinema, a genre I cannot get my head around :). He is the Salty Popcorn first alternate when I cannot attend a screening and matches me on 100+ screenings or screeners throughout the year. A remarkable feat. There are a lot of films in this list that would make mine if I had seen them and visa versa – and some huge omissions in my own list from seeing Andrew’s. THE BABADOOK was my 22nd film so just missed the cut and I am slapping myself – would have gladly had ALL IS LOST in my list – sublime movie. For our other lists for the end of 2014 be sure to see my own Top 20 List and also our Top 20 Worst Movies of 2014 and coming later today – our combined vote Top 20 from all of us at Salty Popcorn. Enough JK waffling, enjoy Kernel Andrew’s Top 20 Movies of 2014………all the best…….JK.

No Winter Sleep or Two Days, One Night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’d be looking for a new arthouse critic 🙂
Neither of us got to see it – it would appear the Academy does not agree with you – both missed shortlist as did Mommy – I am pissed about that!!
I wouldn’t pay a lot of attention to the Academy when it comes to foreign cinema though they’d been doing better the past few years. 3.5 hour Palme d’Or winners usually aren’t their thing.
Lol. I agree that Winter Sleep and Two Days, One Night are undeniably great films which the Academy have poorly overlooked! I also think that Nebraska is one of the top films of 2014.
Bad timing for Nebraska – too many great films this year, releasing in Feb there were just too many films Andrew preferred.
