OMG – NEVER STUCK TO ANYTHING THIS LONG BEFORE

Today marks the official 5th birthday of the mighty and powerful Salty Popcorn idea. It was on this day back in March 2005 I wrote the first article, god it was hideous. About 30 words long and looking like it was written by a 12yr old dyslexic using his toes on the keyboard.

And don’t forget me

5yrs ago, during the month of March, I announced that Superman Returns would be getting a sequel, well that fell through but the even better Superman is about to hit the screens, I also reviewed Horton Hears a Who and St Trinians, I proclaimed that Skins was the best TV show ever made (still have this belief that the original UK version of Skins was one of the best TV shows ever made) and wrote my letters to and complained heavily about the treatment I received at Greenwood in North Sydney – this article was titled Dickcity at Teenwood – as the bouncers would not let me, a 35yr old man into celebrate the birthday of a work colleague, as there were “too many dicks inside and they needed more vaginas”. It still pisses me off

Salty Popcorn started when Orble was a blogging force to be reckoned with and since then, sadly, it has taken a nose dive towards a crash landing and has been abandoned by its Captain and Crew. Salty Popcorn will remain on Orble and will continue to publish but April 30 will see Salty Popcorn move its main point of business to SaltyPopcorn.com.au and will have its own spiffy new site. The designs are done and the servers are priming. Sydney Table and Total Randomness will soon follow onto new sites and slowly the process of transferring articles over will commence. I fear that one day Orble will just face blogageddon and will turn off. With no responses to cries for assistance over 10000 bloggers will be left with nothing but memories of the amazing time, people and articles they have written to share with the world,

I remember when people’s comments were in the dozens, when the top 10 readers all had nearly three or five times the readers they do now, I even wrote asking why 50% of my readers disappeared overnight, were servers broken? Could they be fixed? Why was I getting Google Adsense payments every two months and now all of a sudden, lucky if I get one every six months. The articles and quality of articles on the entire of Orble has risen dramatically, then why no increase in site visits?

I am glad to have met so many people and thank each and every one of my kernels and for anyone who has ever visited Salty.

Here’s to a beautiful 5th year and may your popcorn always be Salty
