HANNIBAL SEASON 2 DVD GIVEAWAY
I should probably pull my head out and get to watching this show – and to think I am a movie and TV addict!! I watched the first few episodes when it released and then it kind of faded into my obscurity, much to the chagrin inducing scorn of my fellow TV addicts. Well something has come up that will get my head from botbot – a giveaway of 3x copies of the Season 2 DVD – now I need to catch up on season 1 and now season 2 – I feel a marathon binge coming on!! Huge thanks to Entertainment One for the prizes. The DVD is rated MA15+ and runs for a whopping 538mins. Good luck!!

Gifted criminal profiler Will Graham has a unique way of thinking that allows him to empathize with anyone, including psychopaths. But while helping the FBI pursue a particularly complicated serial killer, he decides he could use some help and enlists the brilliant psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter. The two form a partnership and it seems that there is no villain they can’t catch together, but Lecter harbors a dark secret. His own brilliant mind has gone to the dark side and he has more in common with the criminals they hunt than Will could possibly imagine.
As far as everyone is concerned this is one of the most amazing TV shows of recent years – 8.6 on IMDB and 9.1 on Rotten Tomatoes. OK OK – will start watching tonight :). I do love Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson so this should be a win win for me!!

The prizes will be sent after FEB 15th! Good luck! Oh, and minor housekeeping – huge apologies for overseas readers, this competition is only available to Australian residents.
Floyd Feylinn Ferell – “Criminal Minds”. Not only a murderous cannibal but one who really knows how to terrify his prey before dispatching them
dexter! he is dangerous and works for the good guys!
dexter he has to be the number one do i think the people that he kills deserves to die yes in australia we are to soft they do not do the time for the crime and would i like a dexter in australia yes no1 on list for his victims is child molester,s and child rapists should be tarred and feathered fed to the fishes every child is a gift
Norman Bates – you’re guaranteed a permanent good night’s sleep at his hotel… a Dead good stay’s guaranteed!
Well, he’s probably not classified as a ‘classic’ serial killer, but I would go for Mr White from Breaking Bad. I pretty much shy away from any movies or tv shows with killings (because I’m a big fat chicken!), so my answer probably doesn’t really fit the bill, but he does kill quite a few people throughout the entire series (some unintentionally!)
My husband is the complete opposite of me and would love this. Valentine’s Day gift perhaps?? 😉
Ghostface from the Scream series, or more importantly Debbie Loomis. Unlike the other killers who are looking for fame or notoriety, Mrs Loomis’ motive is good old fashioned revenge. She was one killer I did not see coming
Well derrrrr – gotta be my namesake, Patrick Bateman, the American Psycho. A truly deluded mofo who was the epitome of 80s pop cultural badness.
I’m siding with you JK and going for Anthony Hopkins’ Hannibal Lecter in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’. Like Michelle V, I don’t usually go for murderous movies, but for some reason I went to see this at the movies when I was still a teenager. Scared the bejebies (is this a real word?) out of me. I haven’t been able to watch the movie in its entirety again! So I probably won’t be watching this series all on my own. Although with the wonderful Gillian Anderson on screen and hubby on the couch to hold on to when the viewing gets gruesome, I’ll give it a go!
Hands down it’s T-Bag from prison Break – an utter sleazebag with no redeeming qualities, preying on children, still makes my skin crawl (testament to the acting skills of Robert Knepper for making him such a watchable but unlikeable character)
Definitely Hannibal Lecter here. My skin still crawls just thinking of him asking “Well, Clarice. Have the lambs stopped screaming?” Psychologically terrifying. Might watch it tonight actually…with the lights on!
‘Mr Glass’ from Unbreakable. Samuel L. Jackson’s performance is the epitomy of creepy, yet subtle enough to not descend into farce.
Well I’m going for broke here, having read your reviews for almost a year without ever commenting I’m going to go for 2 comments in one day 🙂 I seem to be in the same predicament as you with this one, also a TV and Film additcut but I’ve also not yet watched any Hannibal yet – there’s just not enough hours in the day. I gotta say though that last line in your question gave me a bit of a moment of worry – “Who is your favourite fictional TV or movie serial killer and why? Mine is probably the Hopkin’s Hannibal Lecter. That performance changed me – so superb!!” How did that peformance change you, I’ve worries now about a Hannibal Lecter influenced serial killer masquerading as our own Salty movie reviewer. My favourite serial killer has to be Dexter, there’s his sheer longevity – 7 years of being inside his head, his antisocial ways that I can relate to all too well, being aware of his innermost thoughts and of course the fact that he’s working by Harry’s code means we don’t have to feel so bad for loving a serial killer who does his work with steely precision does it? My only disappointment is that they didn’t finish off the series a bit more satisfying after so many years of investment.
Hannibal Lecter is the scariest ever..you know he’s gonna do ya! If given the chance!
I really enjoyed Kevin Costner’s Mr Brooks. A complete surprise, hadn’t even heard of this movie when it screened at a movie marathon and found it incredibly compelling and interesting.
After months of telling me I have to come check out your site, I’m finally heeding Ryan Jordan’s advice to head on over and sign up. I hope it’s not bad form if I start off my trying out one of your competitions but I absolutely had to enter when I saw you had a Hannibal competitiong running. The first series of Hannibal was one of my top 3 TV Series of the year along with House of Cards and Game of Thrones but then I was away travelling for 3 months when Season 2 came out and I missed the whole thing so I’ve a lot of catching up to do before Season 3 starts. I’m a huge fan of Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson – so excited that there’s talk of the X-Files being restarted and maybe Gillian Anderson being involved. My favourite serial killer is Stuntman Mike from Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, it’s not the greatest movie but you’ve got to love Mike’s style from the way he chooses his victims to his method of murder and most of all his too-cool-for-school look. You almost feel bad for him when he gets his comeuppance.
Surprised Ryan told you to check it out, although thanks to him, he is a competition junkie and didn’t think he would like sharing 🙂 Nice choice for a serial killer – thanks for entering!
Thanks, Stuntman Mike makes that movie !
Ah Ryan’s not a bad sort he’s always telling us about competitions to enter here in the office when we talk movies at coffee breaks. But you can always tell when he’s entering a competition – he has a look of concentration that he never has when he’s working 🙂
I really love the performance of Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the Hannibal TV series. He is such a dark mysterious character, very intelligent, smooth with everyone, and wicked as sin when he makes his kills, perfect performance and an absolutely awesome horror TV show!
Hannibal is such a brilliant series, aesthetically it’s unlike anything else on television at the moment, finding beauty in the macabre. My favourite killer would be Grenouille from Perfume, the perfume manufacturing apprentice without a scent who begins killing young women in his quest to find the perfect scent. Although not as good as the book, the film manages to do justice to Suskind’s source material.
Garland ‘The Marietta Mangler’ Greene from Con Air – I don’t think he actually killed anyone during movie but his character’s count is 37 and boy does Bushemi play him well. Very creepy and just gives you shivers.
I’ve been really poor for watching Television for the last 4 years now but Salty Popcorn has been my reliable source for checking out the shows that I let slip by. I’m not sure if I ever thanked you for switching me onto The Returned which was brilliant? But I’ve known Hannibal is something I should definitely check out for ages, I really like Hugh Dancy and I’d watch Mads Mikkelsen in anything, in fact I possibly have watched Mads Mikkelsen in everything. He’s a pretty huge filmography.
I’m tempted to just write that my favourite serial killer is John Doe in Se7en – anyone who decapitates Gwyneth Paltrow and puts her head in a box is a winner as far as I’m concerned 🙂
And I could leave it at that but there’s so much more to say about Se7en. The drawback to serial killer movies is that they tend to be repetitive, it’s all about the killer’s method and the forensics people figuring out their habits and they tend to be a bit formulaic but with Se7en there’s lots of imagination with each murder to the extent that you actually want as the viewer for there to be another murder so as to see how the killer has interpreted the Seven Deadly Sins and he never disappoints, each one is clever and appropriate and of courses there’s that brilliant finale.
I lolled a lot at the Gwyneth comment but I do like her and Se7en was a great choice – I also really liked THE CELL for something different – the different visuals were awesome. Ahhh THE RETURNED – bloody loved it – that was my pleasure – am about to start WENTWORTH and THE MISSING this week – u will love THE MISSING me thinks 🙂
Ok, I’ve added The Missing to the list too, thanks for the tip. I’ll have to take a month off movies one of these days.
Dun dun duhhhhhhhhhn – the winners have been drawn and the losers have been quartered 🙂
Gratz to:
Andrew
Robert Watson
