CAPTAIN PHILLIPS: Trailer of the Day

OK, really the second trailer of the day BUT CAPTAIN PHILLIPS looks insanely awesome and not because of Tom Hanks – can barely stand the man anymore, but because of Paul Greengrass – I love the guy’s work and this carries on his theme of ordinary folks overcoming great adversity at huge loss to achieve a noble goal.

Not only does the film have a great, true story it is based on and star Tom Hanks, and be directed by Greengrass – Catherine Keener is in it and that is all I need – I would watch her do KMart commercials.

This is why I love Paul Greengrass’ work. The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone and a truly amazing film I could only watch once, United 93. I think this film will go back towards the themes and tension of United 93 and for that alone, I am sold. Even if it has Hanks in it – I am excited, I was sold by Greengrass, but the life raft flying off the boat in the trailer gave me goose bumps – it has some good action as well as everything else. It just needs Steven Segal to be the chef and I may filmgasm right here right now haha.

Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer for Captain Phillips, the Paul Greengrass-directed action thriller starring Tom Hanks, Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Yul Vazquez, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky, John Magaro and Angus MacInnes.

Opening in US cinemas on October 11, the film is the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.

I am unsure of Australian release dates at this stage.
